50 Armenian life-termers continue hunger strike in Nubarashen prison
50 Armenian convicts who serve life terms in Nubarashen prison are continuing their hunger strike to demand revision of their cases, the head of the press service of Armenian Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Department Gor Glechyan told Panorama.am.
The prisoners are now kept under medical supervision in their cells, Glechyan said adding that no prisoner has complained of any health problem.
He at the same time noted that Penitentiary Department has no authority to revise convicts’ cases.
As was reported, 45 life-termers in Nubarashen prison went on hunger strike on October 12 to demand revision of their cases. On October 14 Deputy Justice Minister of Armenia Suren Krmoyan visited the prisoners and urged them to stop the hunger strike and not to resort to extreme measures.
