PM Abrahamyan: Armenian-Iranian forum will help discover Armenia as country of opportunities
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and First Vice President of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri participated today in an Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental business forum in Yerevan.
PM Abrahamyan said at the opening of the forum that such sectors as tourism, processing industry, transport, and textile manufacturing may arouse interest of Iranian businessmen wishing to cooperate. “This speaks of numerous investment and business opportunities,” he said.
“Economic cooperation is significant in terms of developing the relationship between Armenia and Iran. The North-South Transport Corridor construction investment program that was already launched, as well as Armenia-Iran railway construction project are of importance from the viewpoint of intensifying bilateral transport operations,” H. Abrahamyan said.
“I also consider it necessary to indicate bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, in particular the construction of 3rd Iran-Armenia power transmission line and the hydro power plant in Meghri. I am sure that these programs will give renewed impetus to the regional development,” the head of Armenian government said.
In his words, the aim of the Armenian-Iranian business forum is to discover Armenia as a country of opportunities.
H. Abrahamyan said there are plans to hold a business forum with the participation of Armenian entrepreneurs in Tehran in November.
