Еx-PM of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan to head Eurasian Economic Commission
Armenia assumes chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on February 1, 2016, while former Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan will head the Eurasian Economic Commission, Interfax-West reported.
“We decided who will head our commission starting February 1, after Viktor Khristenko,” President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at the sitting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on Friday.
He said the candidacy of T. Sargsyan for head of Eurasian Economic Council was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin. “He is supported by Russian president, he worked with him. He is considered a very experienced and smart specialist,” A. Lukashenko noted.
Russia’s representative Viktor Khristenko currently acts as chief of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Lukashenko also announced that the next sitting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is scheduled for December in Moscow.
