Haykakan Zhamanak: 2nd Iran-Armenia gas pipeline may be built
Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia Arsen Ghazaryan told ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily about the possible construction of a new Iran-Armenia gas pipeline.
When asked by the paper why Armenia is not holding negotiations with Iran over gas import for domestic consumption, Ghazaryan said: “The time for this issue will also come. There has already been talk that a second Iran-Armenia gas pipeline with a larger diameter should be built”.
“Nobody even hinted at such a project so far, but A. Ghazaryan assured us that he took part in a number of intergovernmental sittings, and the issue of a second gas pipeline was touched upon. It is especially noteworthy as the existing gas pipeline operates at only 20-25% of its capacity,” the paper writes.
