Lawyer: Valery Permyakov who killed 7 people will undoubtedly get life in prison
There is no doubt that Russian soldier Valery Permyakov charged with killing seven members of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri will be sentenced to life imprisonment, lawyer Lusine Sahakyan told a press conference in Yerevan today. L. Sahakyan is a representative of the aggrieved party’s legal successors (relatives of the Avetisyans were recognized as legal successors).
“I can’t imagine any other punishment inflicted for murdering seven people,” she said.
According to lawyer Yervand Varosyan who is also a representative of the aggrieved party’s legal successors, it becomes clear from the evidence collected so far that the murder was committed by Permyakov.
“As of today, we have no other information. Even a lie detector pointed to his guilt,” the lawyer added.
A Russian military court held a hearing in the Armenian city of Gyumri on August 12, 2015. Valery Permyakov - a conscript of the Russian 102nd military base in Armenia - who is charged with killing the Avetisyan family in January, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for desertion and theft of weapons. The murder case will be examined by an Armenian court later.
