New owner of Electric Networks of Armenia pledges action to avoid power tariff hike
President of Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan has issued a statement in connection with the purchase of Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) Company by Tashir Group. Below is the text of S. Karapetyan’s statement available at the website of ENA.
“Dear compatriots!
As we already announced, on September 30, 2015, Tashir Group and Inter RAO signed an agreement on the purchase and sale of the power supply assets in Armenia.
The sides agreed that ENA CJSC will continue to perform fully the obligations it assumed earlier. Tashir Group has assumed ENA management obligations. The company will be opetated in a transparent way understandable to the public, based on the key component of corporate social responsibility.
The priority tasks of ENA’s development are: introduction of an anti-crisis program, optimization of the company’s financial activities, enhancing the quality of provided services, control over the financial and economic activities, also through the use of modern technology.
First of all, we plan to modernize infrastructure of the distribution networks through efficient investment. We will wage an uncompromising struggle against vicious phenomena, corrupt employees, and dishonest consumers. We will cut the Company’s expenses by concentrating the internal resources, including a reduction of power losses, which will enable to avoid a rise in electricity tariffs by ENA.
The interests of 3 million Armenians are certainly important for us. They cannot be compared with gains or interests of some corrupt employees or dishonest consumers.
In order to support the population of Armenia, a decision was taken to use my personal funds – on a parity basis with the Armenian government - in order to compensate Armenian citizens and small businesses for the rise in power tariffs until August 1, 2015.
We are ready for new approaches, new quality of work, and honest, constructive partnership relations.
I thank you for upcoming close cooperation!”
