President Sargsyan participates in sitting of CIS heads of state in Kazakhstan
During his working visit to Kazakhstan, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended today, on October 16, the sitting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Burabay, the presidential press service said.
Prior to the sitting, presidents of CIS member states congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on his convincing victory in the presidential election in Belarus, as well as Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev on the successful conduct of parliamentary elections.
The meeting of CIS heads of state was followed by a consultation with the participation of the delegations. A wide range of integration cooperation issues were discussed at the summit. About 20 documents were signed, including the declaration on the fight against international terrorism, the declaration of the CIS heads of state on the 70th anniversary of founding of the United Nations, and the address of the CIS heads of state in connection with the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.
Among other documents signed at the CIS summit in Kazakhstan are the concept of military cooperation of CIS member states and the program of cooperation of CIS member states on strengthening border security at the outer boundaries for 2016-2020.
The participants also signed a document on the creation of a group of frontier and other departments of CIS states for the purpose of resolving (elimination) of crisis situations on the outer boundaries.
