T. Poghosyan: NATO representatives should apologize for Armenian air space violation by Turkish military helicopte
During the NATO Parliamentary Assembly annual session in Stavanger, Norway, on October 9-12, member of the Armenian parliament’s delegation Tevan Poghosyan addressed a question to Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg about violation of Armenia’s air borders by Turkish military helicopters. T. Poghisyan himself told a press conference in Yerevan today about it.
“Following a sitting, thanks to my athletic abilities I managed to overtake NATO Secretary General in a corridor and ask him a question about a violation of Armenia’s air borders by Turkish military helicopters. He was surprised at first, but then promised to follow up the matter,” Tevan Poghosyan said.
The Armenian delegation member also announced that he put the question in writing to James Appathurai, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative to the South Caucasus and Central Asia. According to T. Poghosyan, he hopes to get an answer by early November.
“Armenia is one of the best and most active partners, and its relations with NATO are expanding and deepening day by day. But at the moment my aim was to make an uproar so as to teach Turkey a lesson and avoid such situations in the future. If NATO really values border security, then the Alliance needs to apologize for what happened, even if the violation of Armenia’s air space happened because of bad weather, as was earlier reported,” T. Poghosyan said.
