Political scientist: Turkey now has neither time, nor resources to deal with Armenian question
No positive changes can be expected in Armenia-Turkey relations, political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan said at a press conference today.
In his words, the ongoing developments in Turkey and the crisis situation that emerged there have resulted in the fact that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Justice and Development (AKP) Party that previously took a more liberal, tolerant stance now undertakes radical steps, fueling nationalist sentiment, and the number of those sympathizing with nationalists is on the rise in society.
“Turkey now has neither time, nor resources to deal with the Armenian question,” the political scientist said, adding that Ankara links the Armenian-Turkish normalization to relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
