Hraparak: Deputy foreign ministers of Armenia vying for post of ambassador to US
Feelings are running high among deputy foreign ministers keen to become Armenian ambassador to the U.S. The post will become vacant in February 2016 when the current Ambassador Tigran Sargsyan will assume the post of head of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
‘Hraparak’ paper writes that deputy FMs Ashot Hovakimyan and Karen Nazaryan aspire to that post.
Hovakimyan served as Armenian ambassador to Poland in 1999-2006, then to Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia in 2006-2011, and in 2008-2011 he was Armenia’s permanent representative to the OSCE and the UN.
K. Nazaryan was Armenian ambassador to Iran in 2005-2009. He served intermittently as Armenia’s ambassador and permanent representative to the UN from 1996 to 2014.
