Haykakan Zhamanak: Moscow charity supper of Hayastan Fund again not expected
‘Haykakan Zhananak’ daily says that it is rumored in pro-Russian political and business circles that this year, too, a charity supper and fundraising annually held by Hayastan All-Armenian Fund at Ararat Park Hyatt in Moscow will not take place.
The charity supper is traditionally attended by Russia-based prominent businessmen such as Samvel Karapetyan, Ara Abrahamyan and others who make large donations. Last year the tradition was broken for the first time, but there was hope that the next time the annual event will take place.
“When contacted by our newspaper, the press service of Hayastan Fund found it difficult to say whether a gala supper and fundraising are scheduled in Moscow this year. Instead, a gala dinner in Toronto on October 18 raised over $700 thousand in donations, which is a record figure for that city. In general, in the last 2-3 years there has been a decline in funds received by Hayastan All-Armenian Fund,” the daily notes.
