Arshak Gasparyan: Armenia makes transition from punitive to rehabilitative justice
The legal system of Armenia is now making a transition from punitive to rehabilitative justice, Head of Social Justice NGO Arshak Gasparyan said today during the training course for reporters on the peculiarities of the probation service and opportunities of Its establishment in Armenia’.
According to him, rehabilitative justice may produce a variety of good results, in particular help prevent crime in the country.
A probation service aims to ensure that people who committed offences, which are not considered grave, will not be isolated from society. “It is an institution of prison reform, an alternative to prison,” the expert said.
