Armenian MFA: Azerbaijan’s destructive position hinders progress in Karabakh conflict settlement
“It is obviously impossible to make progress in Karabakh conflict settlement as long as Azerbaijan takes a destructive position. Baku has overstepped the limits,” Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan told reporters today during the 3rd International Forum of Alumni of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) held at Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex in Yerevan.
In his words, Azerbaijan acts contrary to the United Nations’ goals such as a peaceful resolution of the problem, respect for the principle of equal rights among peoples and self-determination of peoples, cooperation to achieve solutions to international problems in all the areas.
“This is enough to reach the following conclusion: as long as the Azerbaijani leadership holds their own people hostage regarding this issue and incites hatred towards the neighboring people in order to maintain the regime, there will be no progress in the negotiating process. But it does not mean that activities of the OSCE Minsk Group are senseless. The likelihood of Azerbaijan coming to its senses is also not ruled out,” he said.
