Yerevan hosts 3rd International Forum of Alumni of Moscow Institute of International Relations
Yerevan is hosting the 3rd International Forum of Alumni of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
The event’s venue and the topics of discussion are related to the 200th anniversary of the Lazaryev Institute of Oriental Languages in Moscow - a famous educational institution that laid the foundation for orientalism in Moscow and later also became one of the founders of MGIMO, according to a statement on the MSGIO website.
The forum participants will discuss regional integration processes, Armenia’s development as part of Eurasian integration, mechanisms of diplomatic solutions, the new situation in the Middle East and Iran, China’s place in the global system of relations, and the prospects of the Silk Road.
The forum that opened yesterday, on October 22, is attended by prominent diplomats, economists, orientalists, education experts from over 60 countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Cuba, Laos, China, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
The honorary guests of the forum include Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, MGIMO Rector A. Torkunov, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister V. Nebeznya, Slovakia’s Economy Minister V. Hudak, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Russia’s Ambassador to Iran L. Jagarian, EBRD Managing Director for Turkey and Central Asia N. Khanjenkova, and Director of Russia’s Institute of Oriental Studies V. Naumkin.
