James Warlick: Wide range of issues to be discussed in Armenia and Azerbaijan
The Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have arrived in Armenia. In Yerevan, the mediators will meet with Armenia’s president and foreign minister and travel to Nagorno Karabakh tomorrow, the U.S. Co-Chair James Warlick said today at a meeting with reporters.
The co-chairs are expected to meet with high-ranking officials in Stepanakert and then cross the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan and head to Azerbaijan.
According to J. Warlick, a wide range of issues will be discussed both in Armenia and Azerbaijan, in particular ceasefire violations and the use of heavy weapons.
The use of heavy weapons on the border escalates the situation, while our task is to reduce tensions, the U.S. co-chair said.
