Azerbaijanis face trial in US for spying for Russia
The trial against the group, which illegally provided microelectronics to Russia, is underway in the New York court, US media report, according to the Azerbaijani website Modern.az.
The workers of the American company Art Electronics operating in Texas, citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, were found guilty of providing microchips costing $30 million to the Russian Federation, according to the report.
The investigation found out that the devices were meant for investigative and military activities of Russia. In case the suspects are found guilty, they face from 5 to 20 years’ imprisonment.
According to the information of the FBI, the microelectronics have been taken out of the US at least since October 2008. Over 20 cases of export, mainly from John Kennedy airport, New York, are mentioned in the accusation, the Russian website Lenta.ru reports.
