Estonia tops the list of the post-Soviet countries (16th place). Lithuania is on the 20th place, Latvia – 22th, Belarus – 44th, Russia – 51st. Moldova (52), Kyrgyzstan (67), Ukraine (83), Uzbekistan (87) and Tajikistan (132) follow them.
Doing Business 2016 is the 13th in a series of annual reports measuring the regulations that enhance business activity and those that constrain it. Economies are ranked on their ease of doing business, from 1–189. A high ease of doing business ranking means the regulatory environment is more conducive to the starting and operation of a local firm. The rankings are determined by sorting the aggregate distance to frontier scores on 10 topics, each consisting of several indicators, giving equal weight to each topic. The rankings for all economies are benchmarked to June 2015.
Singapore is the first on ease of doing business in the global ranking. Top ten counties in the ranking are New Zealand, Denmark, South Korea, Hong Kong, the UK, the US, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Meanwhile, Eritrea, Libya, South Sudan, Venezuela and the Central African Republic have the worst records.
Azerbaijan and Georgia have not changed their positions in the ranking Doing Business in comparison with the last year, meanwhile Armenia and Iran have improved their business environment by 3 and 1 places in the ranking, respectively. At the same time, Turkey has worsened its records. The country ranked 51th in Doing Business 2015.
