Armenian Apostolic Church concerned over Halloween celebration in Armenia, urges the public to reject foreign traditions
On Saturday, October 31, some members of the Armenian public are going to join the celebration of Halloween, with frightening masks and costumes already available in Yerevan shops. However, this phenomenon is not welcomed by representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church, priest Hambartsum Danielyan told Panorama.am.
In his words, every year the Armenian Apostolic Church appeals to the Armenian people to say that such foreign celebrations are not as harmless as it might seem.
He said that regrettably, some Armenians have in recent years shown an unexplainable craving for foreign festivities.
“Strangely, this process is being promoted by those who have no idea of the meaning of those holidays that are destructive in nature. A large number of Armenians have become ‘infected with this disease’ and now perceive several Western and Oriental holidays as ‘native’, saying that they create a pleasant and kind mood,” the priest noted.
He added: “I am concerned that in a few days many people are likely to celebrate once again one of those holidays – Halloween”.
The priest said that Halloween, whose origin lies in Celtic traditions, tries to pervert people by making them dress up in demon costumes.
