Vahan Babayan promises to enhance authority of Armenian parliament’s ethics committee
Vahan Babayan, a member of the opposition ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction of the Armenian parliament, will head the National Assembly’s Ethics Committee during the autumn session. He pledged to be impartial and enhance the committee’s authority.
“I will do my best to prevent a biased approach. Equal conditions will be ensured when examining all issues related to MPs. Regardless of what party I represent, the Committee will act within the law,” V. Babayan told the correspondent of Panorama.am, adding that they will leave emotions and political views aside.
The Ethics Committee was earlier led by Arpine Hovhannisyan who was appointed Armenia’s justice minister in September. The committee will hold a sitting next week, Vahan Babayan said.
