Armenia’s improved ranking in Doing Business 2016 Report is positive signal for investors, economy minister says
The fact that Armenia has improved its ranking by moving up 3 places in the flagship Doing Business 2016 report released on October 27 by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation is a positive signal for investors and the business community, Armenian Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan told reporters after the government session today.
“It does not mean that we should stop at what has been achieved and do nothing,” the minister said adding that investment attractiveness is not based on rankings only.
He did not share the opinion that foreign investment is on the decline in Armenia. “Foreign investment is growing, rather than declining. Direct investment has dropped, but it is only part of foreign investment,” he said.
To remind, Armenia ranks 35th in Doing Business 2016 Report. Singapore, New Zealand, Denmark, South Korea, and Hong Kong are the best places to do business, the report says.
