Serzh Sargsyan: Involvement of Armenia and Georgia in different integration bodies didn’t hinder economic cooperation
Trade turnover between Armenia and Georgia grew in 2014, and the tendency continued in the first nine months of 2015, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a press conference following a meeting with President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili in Tbilisi.
The Armenian president said in his speech that both Armenia and Georgia have enough potential for deepening their economic cooperation within the framework of their commitments under the interstate agreements.
“Moreover, I am sure that the involvement of our countries in different integration structures not only does not hinder, but it increases the opportunities for comprehensive cooperation and outlines new horizons for the implementation of mutually beneficial bilateral and multilateral programs,” S. Sargsyan stressed.
He recalled that it was stated earlier in the same hall that Armenia’s membership of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the signing of the EU’s Association Agreement by Georgia would not negatively affect economic relations of the two countries, but quite the opposite will have a positive impact.
“I am pleased to say that our trade turnover grew in 2014 and the same tendency was reported in the first nine months of this year,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
