It’s time to make clear assessment and indicate culprit behind ceasefire violations: Armenian defense minister
The number of ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani armed forces has declined in the last two weeks, one can even say the violations were reduced to a minimum, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said during a briefing today. He added that the elections held in Azerbaijan and Turkey on November 1 are the reason.
“We have established strict control. A respective analysis is being made. The Armenian armed forces, in particular Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, are ready for any developments,” the minister said.
Speaking about statements of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs regarding the situation on the frontline, S. Ohanyan said: “We believe that the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs resulted in the fact that a ‘neither war nor peace’ situation and a relative observation of the ceasefire have been maintained during these years. We want their statements to be targeted and addressed to the side that violates the ceasefire”.
According to Ohanyan, it is time to create conditions for a comprehensive investigation of border incidents that will enable to make an efficient assessment about who exactly violates the ceasefire. The Armenian side considers it necessary to make a clear assessment and indicate the true culprit behind ceasefire violations, the minister said.
