Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Herbert Salber, according to the presidential press service.
Welcoming the guest and speaking about his mission, the president underlined the importance of frequent meetings and discussions, which he said have so far been sincere and meaningful.

Herbert Salber underlined the need for a speedy peaceful resolution to the problem, noting that the EU is committed to continuing with a balanced policy in the region.
S. Sargsyan spoke of the situation that has emerged since his meeting with H. Salber 4 months ago. He said that tensions have considerably heightened, and there is a direct threat to the security of the population of border areas in Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.
The president stressed that Armenia is ready to continue constructive cooperation aimed at maintaining and strengthening regional stability, peace and security.
At the request of Herbert Salber, the Armenian president presented his approaches to the latest developments in the Karabakh settlement talks. He stressed the importance of timely and targeted statements - rather than general ones - by the international community and competent international bodies in connection with ceasefire violations, as well as the importance of a number of measures to prevent further violations.
