Death toll rises to 8 in Armenian bus crash outside Tula
The death toll has risen from 7 to 8 in the crash of a passenger bus carrying Armenian citizens, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported citing emergency services.
“One of the victims has died in hospital. So the bus accident left eight people dead”, a source told Interfax, adding that 42 others were injured.
Around 2:00 am Moscow time Tuesday a passenger bus en route from Moscow to Yerevan overturned at 221st kilometer of ‘Don’ interstate highway. No fire broke out in the bus.
The regional police unit said that the bus with two drivers was carrying 59 passengers - 50 men and 9 women, all of them Armenian citizens. The bus was owned by an Armenian company.
The Russian police opened an investigation over the crash under Article 264 part 5 of the Criminal Code – violation of traffic or vehicle operation rules, negligently causing the death of two or more people.
