Lawyer calls propaganda of Ibad Huseynov’s fake heroism shame of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people
One can expect anything from the authorities who form a sham parliament, but for a propaganda of the fake heroism of Ibad Huiseynov, who ostensibly “eliminated” Monte Melkonian during Karabakh war, well-known Azerbaijani lawyer Aslan Ismayilov wrote on his Facebook page, according to Minval.az.
The lawyer writes that he learnt about the case back in 2011, when Colonel Khatai Bakhishov, the commander of the battalion of subdivision 708, met him and told him about the circumstances of Monte’s death. He said Ibad Huseynov was not even aware of that case. “When I realised he was telling the truth, I met one of the MNS ruling officials and told him about that. After listening to me attentively, he almost accused me of exaggerating everything. At the end of our conversation, he promised me to investigate the case. Then he disappeared,” Ismayilov writes.
The authorities of Azerbaijan are creating a fake national hero thus disgracing themselves, their country and their people, Ismayilov writes. He highlights that this case must teach everyone a lesson, not only the authorities but also all the citizens. “After all, it will have to be paid for sooner or later. Justice will certainly triumph. Everyone involved in this lie deserve hatred,” the lawyer added.
He noted that Ibad Huseynov and his brother Eyvaz Huseynov, the 20-year-long chief executive of Khojalu district, wanted to promote themselves with the story.
Back in 2012, a group of Azerbaijani veterans of Karabakh war issued a statement supporting the official version that Monte Melkonian was killed of random shrapnel fired from BMP gun during a battle in the village Merzili. Tofig Jafarov, the commander of a separate reconnaissance company, and Umidvar Mirzoyev, the deputy commander of 708th subdivision, confirmed this. Moreover, one of the members of the BMP crew, Azaddin Musayev, is still on his service in the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. The supporters of the promotion of Ibad Huseynov’s myth started to threaten the Azerbaijani veterans and their families after the scandalous discovery.
The Armenian side, both specialists and Merzili battle participants, also repeatedly reported many inconsistencies and falsifications of Ibad Huseynov’s version. This, however, did not prevent the Azerbaijani MNS from exploiting the myth of the fake hero Ibad Huseynov. Songs, books and films were dedicated to him. And only now, once the “cleansing” of the MNS leadership kicked off in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani media started to run articles exposing Ibad Huseynov’s accomplices.
