Economy minister: Almost all departments of Armenia come up with new proposals on cooperation with EU
The current sitting of Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee is notable for the fact that the Council of the European Union authorized the European Commission to open negotiations on a new agreement with Armenia, and adopted the corresponding negotiating mandate, Armenian Economy Minister Karen Chshmarityan said at a press conference today held as part of the 16th sitting of Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee that started in Yerevan.
“At the Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee sitting, all the directions of further partnership and a range of issues concerning political relations will be discussed. Representatives of Armenian Foreign Ministry are present here for this purpose,” the minister said noting that the Armenian side has new proposals on cooperation.
“Almost all the departments of Armenia have come up with proposals for the European Union,” Chshmarityan said.
In the words of Gunnar Wiegand - the European External Action Service (EEAS) Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE, they wish success in carrying out reforms in Armenia.
He also highlighted the importance of the EU’s mandate for cooperation with Armenia in new directions.
Gunnar Wiegand said the region is still facing economic problems, and the EU respects and accepts Armenia’s membership of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
