Zhoghovurd: Bus and air passenger transportation volumes from Russia to Armenia almost equal
Bus transportation safety is at the center of public attention after the recent crash of a bus en route from Moscow to Yerevan, ‘Zhoghovurd’ paper writes. As is known, interstate transportation of passengers by bus has been in great demand in recent years.
The paper says citing official statistical data that bus passenger transportation volumes are now almost equal to air traffic passenger volumes. According to unofficial estimates, the matter concerns about one million passengers.
“Prices of bus tickets to Moscow are from 20,000 to 30,000 drams. Thai is, the average turnover of that market is about 25 billion drams or $50 million annually. If the same passengers start using services of airlines, the turnover will amount to at least $200 million. This is the amount of losses of the airlines that operate flights from Armenia to Russia,” the paper writes.
