Armenian Urban Development Ministry not to allow change in Yerevan SCC’s architectural image
Armenian Urban Development Ministry will not allow deformation of the building of Yerevan’s Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex (SCC), Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan said during a briefing in the Armenian parliament today.
In his words, SCC’s operation program will be presented, and the authors of the SCC architectural design will participate in discussions.
In response to reporters’ remark that the new owner of SSC is rumored to be an offshore company, N. Sargsyan replied that Urban Development Ministry does not deal with such issues.
As was reported, on August 13 the Armenian government took a decision to sell Karen Demirchyan SCC on the balance sheet of Armenian Defense Ministry to NTAA Investment Group OJSC for $30 million. There are plans to repair the SCC building and construct a family complex consisting of a hotel, an indoor water park, concert halls, shops, and a casino. The complex will be the first of its kind in Armenia and the whole region. The program will be completed in four years.
