Minister indicates need to minimize negative impact of hydropower plants on Armenia’s environment
Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Atramais Grigoryan said today that if priority is given to small hydropower plants as a source of alternative energy and a factor that influences the formation of energy tariffs, then the main task should consist in minimizing the negative impact of hydropower plants on the environment. The minister made that statement at a workshop on efficient use of mineral and water resources.
Aramais Grigoryan was quoted by the ministry’s press service as saying that improper operation of hydropower plants results in adverse environmental conditions in rivers of the country and negatively affects quantitative indices.
