Armenia needs national carrier: Discussion at Public Council meeting
Issues related to civil aviation of Armenia were discussed today at the sitting of the sub-commission on air transport of Armenia’s Public Council, according to the press service of Public Council.
Head of the sub-commission Dmitry Atbashyan presented two major problems for consideration: the need to adopt aviation legislation and have a national carrier.
A member of the sub-commission, Vazgen Safaryan, proposed setting up a working group for collecting information to determine what technical equipment (in particular, planes), specialists, and funds are at Armenia’s disposal.
Safaryan indicated the need to invite representatives of civil aviation to Public Council to hear their proposals and discuss jointly the prospects of creating national airlines.
He said during their meetings with Public Council members, the president and the prime minister of Armenia also stressed the need to have the institution of national carrier, and Public Council will continue submitting proposals for the sector’s regulation.
