How did EAEU membership affect Armenia? Finance Minister Gagik Khachatryan’s comments
It is now hard to make a clear assessment of the results of Armenia’s membership of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), but the main thing is that Armenia joined a union that provides ample opportunities for economic development, Armenian Finance Minister Gagik Khachatryan said in the parliament today when responding to a question of independent MP Khachatur Kokobelyan.
The Armenian parliament began debating the draft state budget for 2016 at the extraordinary sitting on Monday.
The minister said that Armenian business entities should use the opportunities that Armenia’s membership of the EAEU has created.
“If we sit idle and wait for a recipe, we will not achieve any results. Unfortunately there are a lot of unpredictable external factors. There are also numerous problems we are dealing with jointly with Ministry of Economy. That is, all the problems are at the center of the government’s attention,” the finance minister added.
“We should do everything possible so as to make the best use of the opportunities and advantages Armenia has received by joining the Eurasian Economic Union,” Gagik Khachatryan stressed.
