“Pumpkin Day Carnival” Educational Contest was held at the Yerevan Zoo
“Pumpkin Day Carnival” Educational Contest was held at the Yerevan Zoo. The event was organized by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) in the frames of the 5th “SunChild” environmental festival with the support of the General Partner of the foundation VivaCell-MTS, according to the press service of VivaCell-MTS.
The number of the participants of the Pumpkin Day Contest grows year by year. 300 schoolchildren of ages 10 to 15 participated in the colorful autumn contest this year. Young cooks prepared delicious dishes with pumpkins, fruits and vegetables for Yerevan Zoo.
To mention, the participants had come to the Zoo with fanciful costumes embodying various animals. The Animal Carnival Parade marked the closing of this joyful event. The participants of the parade were accompanied by the “Yerevan Drums” band.
The participants competed in 8 nominations. The jury chose the winning groups in each nomination: “Best Idea” – main school number 8 after Kh. Abovyan, Yerevan; “Best Combination” – N128 main school after L. Tolstoy, Yerevan; “Best Dish” – main school N17 after V.Hambardzumyan; “Best Teamwork” – main school N196 after A. Navasardyan; “Quick and Tasty” – Teghenik middle school, Kotayk region; “The best dish resembling animals” – main school N51 after V. Petrosyan, Yerevan; “Best eco-idea” – main school N192, Yerevan; “The most original costume” – main school N162 after Siamanto, Yerevan.
“Our team, which represents the only school of village with just 35 pupils, is very happy to return home with a prize,” said teacher of Teghenik School, Gohar Movsisyan. The participants of the winning teams got an opportunity to visit the Zoo for free throughout the next year, and other participants can visit the Zoo for free throughout June and July, 2016.
