First meeting of US-Armenia Council on Trade and Investment starts in Yerevan
Armenia is prepared to be a focus of interest of the international business community by adding traditional Armenian hospitality to favorable business conditions, Armenian Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan said today at the first meeting of the U.S.-Armenia Council on Trade and Investment that opened in Yerevan today. “The recently-signed Armenia-US Trade and Investment Framework Agreement creates new opportunities to boost investment, commodity turnover, and trade between the countries, promote cooperation, and identify new areas of cooperation,” the minister said.
The head of the American delegation, Deputy Assistant US Trade Representative for Russia and Eurasia Elizabeth Hafner said for her part that it is just the beginning of cooperation, while discussions will help the sides identify the opportunities and obstacles in trade. She underlined the importance of the private sector’s involvement.
The meeting is attended by representatives of all Armenian ministries, experts, and over 60 businessmen.
