Koryun Nahapetyan: Development of military-industrial complex remains priority of Armenia’s defense
Under the draft state budget of Armenia for 2016, budget expenditures on defense will increase slightly, and there are also no changes in terms of priority directions, the head of the Armenian parliament’s standing committee on defense, national security and internal affairs Koryun Nahapetyan said during debates of the draft law on the 2016 state budget of Armenia in the parliament today.
In his words, the development of the domestic military-industrial complex remains one of the priority directions of the defense policy. In 2016 it is planned to conduct research and design work aimed at introducing and using modern technology.
“There will be achievements in the military-industrial complex thanks to the scheduled work,” Nahapetyan said.
Besides, according to him, a number of measures will be taken in 2016 to ensure the application of the Law on Military-Industrial Complex of Armenia.
The committee head noted that cooperation will continue with allied countries, in particular the matter concerns purchasing offensive and defensive weapons, modern long-range equipment, creation of joint ventures in the military-technical sphere and a joint air defense system, repairs and modernization of military hardware, etc.
K. Nahapetyan indicated military education as yet another direction, in particular training of the necessary personnel and improving their skills. Attention will be given to repairs of military medical institutions.
