Azerbaijani fans insult memory of Paris attack victims: Shouting and booing at minute of silence
Before the beginning of Azerbaijan-Moldova football match at Baku Olympic Stadium, the fans of the Azerbaijani national started to boo and shout during the minute of silence in memory of the victims of the terror attacks in Paris, Azerbaijani news agency Turan reports.
The November 17 match was broadcasted online and the TV viewers heard it all, according to the report.
Oxu.az writes that the Azerbaijanis always want to show that they are ‘house of high culture and lifestyle,’ still they leave without attention the fact that ‘the society is diverse and many-sided, and that there will always be a spoon of tar to spoil the whole sweet and tasty lot.’
The match was reportedly taking place at the multi-thousand-seat Olympic stadium. However, the spectators were not many because the friendly match of their national was of little interest and the stadium was not full. That hooty heap of people was what took the stadium stands and the TV cameras, becoming the face of Azerbaijan, the website points out.
As for the attitude of the Azerbaijani society towards the Paris tragedy, Oxu.az writes that a part of the Azerbaijani citizens covered their profile pictures in social networks with the colours of the French flag. Another part of the users criticised them by claiming that they as if flatter with the French consulate in an attempt to easily obtain a Schengen visa.
A series of terrorist attacks took place in Paris on November 14 at night. Unknown people opened fire at a restaurant; three explosions were heard close to the Stade de France, where a friendly match between French and Germany nationals was going on attended by the French President François Hollande. In addition, unknown attackers entered the theatre Bataclan during a rock concert and took hostages. According to the latest information, 132 people were killed and over 350 were injured. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The Paris attacks were a response to the insult to the Prophet Muhammad and to the air attacks of the international coalition led by the US, the organisation said in a statement.
