Another incident at Russian military base in Armenia: contract servicemen found hanged
A contract serviceman of Russian Federal Security Service’s (FSB) Frontier Department in Armenia – an Armenian citizen – was found hanged in a village of northern Shirak province in Armenia, according to RBC news agency.
An autopsy will be conducted, law enforcers said. RBC reported citing the local mass media that the serviceman hanged himself yesterday in the village of Gusaghyugh. The village administrator Vasak Ghazaryan said that he lived with his pregnant wife and parents. According to Ghazaryan, the man ran into debt that he was unable to repay.
The Russian news agency reminds readers that it is not the first time that such an incident has happened: in late February of this year 28-year-old Arthur Afyan, a contract serviceman of frontier troops in Armenia, went missing. He was found hanged in early March.”Afyan was also an Armenian citizen. He served at the Russian base in Gyumri. The media reported that before his disappearance Afyan told his wife about “large debts”. Russia’s FSB said at that time that the servicemen’s disappearance could have been connected with his debt,” RBC says.
