Zaruhi Postanjyan urges civil disobedience in her speech at extraordinary sitting of Armenian parliament
At the extraordinary sitting today the Armenian parliament began debating the Protocol on Some Issues Related to the Import and Turnover of Commodities on the Customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) signed in Burabai, Kazakhstan, on October 16, 2015.
The head of ‘Heritage’ opposition faction Ms. Zaruhi Postanjyan made a speech in this connection. She touched upon the results of Armenia’s membership in the EAEU and then started discussing domestic political issues, in particular, the constitutional referendum in Armenia due on December 6.
The appeal of National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan who asked Z. Postanjyan to speak to the point, i.e. the Protocol under discussion, remained unheard. Thus, when speaking about the upcoming December 1 rally of opposition political parties opposing the constitutional reform in Armenia, Zaruhi Postanjyan urged civil disobedience. “We are able to stay outside for a week, feel cold and go hungry,” she said.
“Yes, you are right. The street is a good place, but let’s discuss the bill,” the parliament speaker said in response.
“You should make an appropriate statement at least once, for a change. In case of the parliament’s agreement, we could play an audio recording of remarks here because each time you say the same thing,” G. Sahakyan told Postanjyan after her speech.
