Haykakan Zhamanak: Russian military bases in region to be brought into higher state of readiness
The Russian military base in Armenia may be of importance in case of a deterioration of relations between Russia and Turkey, Ruben Melkonyan, an expert on Turkey, told ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily.
“The abyss between countries fighting terrorism and those supporting that phenomenon overtly or covertly is increasing. In this connection it is quite natural that the Russian military bases in the region will be brought into a higher state of readiness,” he said.
According to Melkonyan, Armenia as a Christian country has made its choice and cannot back terrorists.
