President: Armenia shall remain as the most secure country in the world
“These undertakings shall be of preventive nature in the first place and in no way or manner shall upset the normal functioning of our state and, naturally, no restrictive measures shall be applied upon our citizens”, - said President Serzh Sargsyan in a meeting with heads of the Police and the National Security Service of Armenia today, November 25, according to a press release issued by the Office of the President.
According to the press release, President Sargsyan had a working meeting with heads of Police and National Security Service – Vladimir Gasparyan and Gorik Hakobyan – who reported on issues pertaining to their duties. The President said that evolving geopolitical developments made the country to strenghten measures of civilian protection in Armenia. “In this regard, of course, the professionalism of all those involved in these endeavours is essential. I have no doubt that we have the professionals we need”, - said the President, adding that the special operation in the night of November 25 in Yerevan is a proof to that end.
“With tireless efforts over years, including by those I referred to, we have been ranked among the most secure countries in the world, and Armenia must remain among the safest countries in the world. No event shall take place in Armenia to undermine the image our country, including in this [security] domain. Please, convey my appreciation to the personnel that was engaged in that operation”, - the President said, according to the press release.
According to another press release by the National Security Service, as a result of prompt investigative measures by intelligence service, an organised criminal group planning grave crimes in Armenia has been revealed and alleged members arrested earlier today, November 25.
