Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan chaired today a sitting of the government commission for the organization of the funeral of People’s Artist of Armenia and the USSR Varduhi Varderesyan, according to the government press office.

The sitting participants observed a minute of silence to honor the actress. A decision was taken at the sitting that a service will be held in Surb Hovhannes Church in Yerevan’s Kond district from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on November 26, while the funeral ceremony will start at twelve noon on November 27 in Sundukyan National Academic Theatre. The actress will be buried in Komitas Pantheon. 

In his message of condolence, Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan said: “I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of prominent stage and screen actress Varduhi Varderesyan.

She made an invaluable contribution to the establishment and development of Armenian theatre art. During her long career Varduhi Varderesyan created many unforgettable characters, captivating audiences with her talent and stage appeal. She will remain embedded forever in our memory as a bright, original individual. I express my condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the beloved actress”.
