NSS: Criminal group aimed to organize grave crimes in Armenia
As a result of prompt investigative measures taken by Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS), a criminal group planning grave crimes in Armenia has been revealed, according to NSS.
Arthur Vardanyan, a former resident of Yerevan currently residing abroad, set up and led that criminal group after he arrived in Armenia. By prior arrangement, the group illegally purchased a large quantity of arms and ammunition which were concealed in Nork district of Yerevan, in a detached house rented for that purpose.
During a search conducted jointly with the police on November 25, various kinds of submachine guns, pistols, grenade launchers (including ‘Mukha’ ones), grenades, explosive substance, explosive devices, means of communication, cartridges, cartridge holders, military garbs, including bullet-proof vests have been found. There were nine members of the criminal group in the house at the time of the arrest. All of the, along with Arthur Vardanyan, were arrested.
The Investigative Department of NSS opened a criminal case under the Criminal Code’s Article 223 parts 1 and 2 and Article 235 part 3. An investigation is underway.
