NSS of Armenia: Citizens, some branches of power were target of criminal group arrested in Yerevan
The criminal group detained during an operation conducted by units of Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) in Yerevan on November 25 is an unprecedented one in Armenia in terms of the group’s cruelty and the number of its weapons and members, Deputy Director of NSS Mikael Hambartsumyan told a press conference today.
“A group that had clear goals and a carefully considered plan of actions was rendered harmless. The crimes being planned by the group members were aimed against citizens, some branches of power, and state bodies,” Hambartsumyan said adding that he cannot release more details because the investigation is still underway.
As was reported, a criminal group that intended to commit grave crimes in Armenia was arrested by NSS of Armenia on November 25. The Investigative Department of NNS opened a criminal case under the Criminal Code’s Article 223 parts 1 and 2 (creation or leadership of a criminal society) and Article 235 part 3 (illegal purchase, sale, possession and carrying of firearms, ammunition, explosive substances, or explosive devices by an organized group). An investigation is underway.
