Preserve and enrich traditions of Armenia: Vardan Ajemyan Theatre of Gyumri marks 150th anniversary
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan participated today in a festive event held on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Vardan Ajemyan State Drama Theatre in Gyumri, the press office of the government said.
Hovik Abrahamyan proposed setting up a monument to Vardan Ajemyan in the area adjacent to the theatre. He pledged to help in the matter.
The premier then attended the opening of the Small Hall after Mher Mkrtchyan where “Mher Mkrtchyan: The Last Role”, a documentary about the great actor, was screened. Then the premier watched a play dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the theatre.
Congratulating the theatre staff, Hovik Abrahamyan said: “Keep alive the memory and traditions of your ancestors and masters who worked here, bringing glory to the theatre and enriching the annals of theatre art that dates back over 2,000 years”.
