Artsvik Minasyan: Constitutional reform in Armenia will enable to have responsible authorities and opposition
The Constitutional reform in Armenia will enable to have responsible authorities and responsible opposition, Artsvik Minasyan, a member of ‘ARF-Dashnaktsutyun’ (ARFD) opposition faction of the Armenian parliament, said during a press conference today.
“Bringing about changes is within the scope of authority of the government. The draft amendments to the Constitution of Armenia will provide the political opposition with a serious opportunity, thanks to which we will have not only responsible authorities, but also responsible opposition,” Minasyan stressed.
Another participant in the press conference - the leader of Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan said for his part: “Citizens are not familiar with the draft constitutional amendments because so serious discussions have been held with them”.
As was reported, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on August 21 sent the draft constitutional amendments to the country’s parliament. The draft was developed by the Special Commission on Constitutional Reforms adjunct to Armenian President. The president set December 6, 2015 as the date for the constitutional referendum. The campaign for the constitutional reform in Armenia began on October 10 and will end at midnight of December 4.
