Information security expert on dangers of Facebook quizzes
Internet quizzes asking questions like “What should Santa bring you for Christmas?” or “Learn who is secretly in love with you?”, or “Which country should you have been born in?” have become extremely popular with Facebook users.
Information security expert Samvel Martirosyan told Panorama.am that he would advise Facebook users to take such quizzes, especially as they are not created by a psychologist.
Besides, he recommends users to be vigilant and always read carefully what information the quiz wants to obtain. When access to the Facebook profile is being asked for, the user may automatically click ‘agree’, which could result in a leakage of personal information, S. Martirosyan warned.
Thus, according to him, there are cases when owners of Internet resources with quizzes gain access to the user’s posts or some information intended only for friends.
Very often quizzes are used for marketing purposes so that advertising agencies could choose a target audience. But the popularity of Internet quizzes may also attract criminals intending to steal personal data , Samvel Martirosyan said.
