Zhoghovurd: Diaspora minister’s brother appointed advisor to PM
Koryun Hakobyan, the older brother of Armenia’s Diaspora Minister Ms. Hranush Hakobyan, has been appointed an advisor to the Armenian prime minister, according to ‘Zhoghovurd’ paper. The decision about his appointment was signed on November 27.
Like his sister, Koryun Hakobyan was a member of the communist bureaucratic elite in the Soviet time. After Armenia gained independence, he smoothly forgot his communist views and adopted a liberal ideology. In the past 20 years he has held various positions, mainly in state agencies responsible for the use and protection of natural resources. In particular, until late summer of this year he was the head of a concession agency of Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, the chief of the agency for the use of natural resources.
