The press service of the Defence Ministry of Azerbaijan released a statement saying that Novruzov Fariz Aliabbas oglu, praporshik of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, was killed on the line of contact on November 30 in the evening. The Military Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan hastily accused the Armenian side of the incident. Moreover, the Defence Ministry of Azerbaijan confirmed the loss only after the media leaked the information.

Commenting on his Azerbaijani colleagues’ statement, the spokesperson for the Defence Ministry of Armenia, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, told Panorama.am that the claims made by the Azerbaijani side are not true and are yet another attempt to run false information.

“Armenia is preparing to hold a constitutional referendum now. While in Azerbaijan, the situation is tense because of the events in the settlement of Nardaran, where mass arrests of Islamists are taking place amid shootouts with the police and victims from both sides. Against that backdrop, Azerbaijan attempts to make yet another provocation,” Hovhannisyan noted.

According to Razm.info, this is the 82nd known case of death in the Armed Forces and other defence agencies of Azerbaijan for 2015.
