Armenian CEC head: Voter turnout in constitutional referendum 50.51% as of 8:00 pm
1,296,368 voters or 50.51% of the total number of the citizens eligible for participation in the referendum voted in Armenia’s constitutional referendum as of 8:00 pm, Head of Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan said.
According to data released by the Armenian police yesterday, on December 5, there are 2,550,323 voters included in the Voter Register of the Republic of Armenia.
Under the Law on Referendum, the draft submitted to referendum is considered as adopted if more than half of the voters voted for it, but not less than one third of the citizens included in the lists.
Tigran Mukuchyan noted that the data he announced is preliminary data that has been received electronically.
Voting in the national referendum on the constitutional amendments started at 1,997 polling stations across Armenia at 8:00 am on Sunday, December 6. Six international and 18 local observer organizations were observing the referendum. Voting ended at 8:00 pm Yerevan time.
