First president of Armenia urges citizens to participate in referendum
First Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan voted in the constitutional referendum earlier today.
“First of all, I call on the Armenian people to go to the polls and vote freely and in accordance with their will. I know for sure that the more people vote, the more objective the referendum results will be,” Ter-Petrosyan told journalists at polling station No 9/11.
The first president was accompanied by his grandson, Levon Davidi Ter-Petrosyan.
Voting in the national referendum on the constitutional amendments started at 1,997 polling stations across Armenia at 8:00 am on Sunday, December 6. According to data of Central Election Commission of Armenia, 201,259 people voted as of 11:00 am. 6 international and 18 local observer organizations are observing the referendum. Voting will end at 8:00 pm Yerevan time.
