Armen Smbatyan: There is no mediated voting in Armenia
In Armenia voting is conducted in two ways: electronically and traditionally, Secretary of Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) Armen Smbatyan told reporters.
According to him, 265 citizens can vote electronically, most of them are diplomats serving in Armenian diplomatic missions and consulates abroad and their family members.
Participants of traditional voting cast their ballots at polling stations, except for citizens receiving in-patient treatment in medical institutions.
Prior to voting at polling stations, citizens present their passports, ID cards, or references serving as a substitute for ID documents. Servicemen shall show their military ID.
Smbatyan stressed there is no mediated voting in Armenia - citizens have to cast their votes in person.
Voting in the referendum on the constitutional amendments started at 1,997 polling stations across Armenia at 8:00 am on Sunday, December 6. Voting will end at 8:00 pm Yerevan time.
